Birthday Fandango

Tonight, I am eating leftover Birthday cake. Pepper made it for me. Its chocolate. Its flourless. And Its got real zip.

Wanna know why? Its loaded with ground cardamom, pepper, and cayenne—and leaves a little heat on the tongue.

Let’s begin at the beginning. First, there was Dilletante Chocolate and gobs of butter:

Then there was fresh ground cardamon and pepper:

And then there were gorgeous figs:

Here is Pepper making this divine Birthday cake for me, stirring in all the goodness:

There was a warm sauce of blueberries (that popped with heated glee when cut into). In the end, there were candles too. It was a cake masterpiece to me.
