MIxed Media: stages of portraits

IMG_2494I discovered Lynne Hoppe’s wonderful portrait work. I got intrigued by her process and focused in on her tutorial. Here, I am moving through the stages, starting with dictionary paper, bleeding dye papers, and white acrylic.(above)

IMG_2495I enjoyed playing with eye placement, shaping the long, angular face, and scraping paint with a trowel.

Without a brush to control the paint, the trowel creates surprising effects, often raw, which I love.
