9 experiments in painting faces

IMG_6437Here are two favorite quotes that reflect a little of the coming year for me. They may also reflect much of this past year:

“I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” ~ Pablo Picasso

“I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all the kinds of things you can’t see from the center.” ~Kurt Vonnegut

2015 was the year I learned to paint faces, something that’s felt impossible my whole life. Very, very satisfying and fulfilling times just sitting at my easel for hours, painting, listening to podcasts, refining, refining, refining. Like meditating.  Sitting in a flow state for hours.  I’ve loved 2015 for that.  Many thanks to Christie Tomlinson, Mindy Lacefield, and mostly Misty Mawn.  Happy New Year everyone, thank you for your support of my artwork.

    1. Amazing to hear you’ve only learned last year to paint faces. Your art touches me do deeply. Happy painting dear Laurel. And happy discoveries xxx

      1. Thank you dear Caro. You’re artwork and sweet support has made a big difference for me! I’m touched by the quality of your work ~and also the tone of your caring “voice” throughout Instagram. Some people thread other people’s lives together, helping us “see” and make meaning and connect to each other. You’re one of those voices. Thank you so much. xxoo
